FELLOWSHIP EVENTS

Kick-off Sunday
The Fellowship and Service Commission coordinates with the Christian Education Commission to provide refreshments for Sunday School Registration Day, the Sunday after Labor Day.

Fall Luncheon
Usually the 2nd Friday of November, our Women’s Fellowship hosts a luncheon, craft sale and bake sale. Turkey and Roast beef are served along with home made salads and pies.

Movies At Bethlehem UCC

Each month the Christian Education Commission shows a movie in the new Star Bright Cinema Room. The show times will vary with some being shown on a weekday afternoon and some shown in the evenings. Some of the movies are family movies, rated G, and are entertainment for the entire family. Others will be on a specific topic with discussion to follow.

Hanging of the Greens
Usually the 1st Saturday in December we decorate our church building for Christmas. This Hanging of the Greens event is a fun time for people of all ages, children, youth, and adults. Lots of trees go up, greens are hung, and different decorations grace our building.

Usually the Saturday after New Years the process is reversed. We put away our decorations for another year.

Advent Workshop
Our Christian Education Commission sponsors this fun event, usually the first Sunday in December. The workshop begins with lunch and lots of crafts are available to be made by children, youth, and adults.

Living Nativity
On a Sunday evening in December come to Bethlehem and see… We have the stable up, the characters of the Christmas story present, sheep, donkeys and even a camel. In addition there is an open house. Our Journey Room is open to see the Christmas story being used by our Workshop Rotation Model Sunday School program. In 2008 we heard the angels stories. Also brief organ concerts are given in our sanctuary. Refreshments are served. Bring your family to Bethlehem and see the Christmas story.

Chili Cook-off/All Church Variety Show
The Chili Cook-off will be held this year on March 27th in conjunction with the all church variety show. A variety of cooks from the congregation bring their favorite chili recipes. The congregation gets to sample many different chilies and vote for their favorite.

Sauerkraut Supper
Again hosted by our Women’s Fellowship, one Friday in February (February 19, 2010) we have our annual Sauerkraut Supper. This long standing tradition includes roast pork, German noodles (spaetzle), mashed potatoes and gravy, and of course sauerkraut. The desserts are home baked pies. Everyone is welcomed.

Grandparents Day
Usually the third Sunday in February, a time for Grandparents, parents and all church members to tour an open house of our Sunday Church School program. Refreshments are served and children share what happens in Sunday School.

All Church Potluck
The Fellowship and Service Commission sponsors a potluck luncheon to be held after worship on a spring Sunday.

Tiger Outing
On a Sunday afternoon in July we take buses into Detroit to enjoy a Tiger’s Baseball game. This is a long-standing tradition at Bethlehem UCC. Ticket price includes ticket to the game, bus ride, pizza lunch (eaten on the bus) and pop and water also to enjoy on the bus ride to and from the game.

Golf Outing
On a Sunday afternoon in August a golf scramble is held at an area golf course. The event also includes prizes and dinner. For non-golfers, you are welcome to come just for the dinner.
